A Broken Contract
Good morning
Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 24: 14-15
Worship song: Victory Belongs to Jesus
Meditation:
The seven-year bilateral contract agreement between Laban and Jacob was broken after Laban failed to fulfill his end of the bargain, but despite being disappointed by the outcome of their verbal agreement, Jacob dedicated his time and service to Laban as he worked relentlessly for fourteen more years. Realizing that Laban was a deceiver and unjust master, Jacob took his family and fled, dissatisfied that Laban had deceived him and had despitefully changed his wages ten times. No doubt some Laban spirits still operate as bosses in the workforce, deceiving and robbing the poor and needy of their hard-earned salaries.
Take care that you do not oppress the poor and the
destitute, nor withhold the wages due to them; for the Lord is their protector,
and their cries have reached His ears. Those who decide to oppress the poor
shall weep and howl when misery shall come upon them. Woe unto all deceivers,
for you may be rejoicing now, but weeping shall be your latter end. Woe unto
the unjust employer who used his neighbor's service and refused to pay a fair
wage (Jer. 22:13). You are required to treat your workers fairly and justly,
because you have a Supreme Master in heaven who sees everything you do.
Let us pray:
Sovereign God, worthy are You, O Lord, to receive glory,
honor, and praise. Deliver us, O God, from oppressors, manipulators, and those
who exploit our service. Father, help those who are struggling financially,
those who have been used and abused, and those who have served faithfully
without being rewarded with fair wages. Lord, grant us the zeal to walk in
authority, even when others underestimate us, trusting that everything will
work out for our ultimate good. Remind us that the road to success requires
unwavering determination, commitment, dedication, and honesty. Lord God, hear
the cries of Your people suffering under oppressive bondage. Comfort their
aching hearts and bring divine reassurance and peace to everyone who mourns
today. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, our King. Amen.
Wishing you a blessed day. 👏💞🙏
