Praising God Regardless
Good morning
Scripture reading: Colossians 3:15-17
Praise song: Let Praises Rise
Meditation:
I recently watched a video and was mesmerized by the unbelievable scenes of jubilation and the display of enthusiasm portrayed by the children as they worshiped God. They didn't have microphones; they used soda bottles. They didn't have a live band or famous singers; they lifted their voices together and sang to the glory of God. They didn't have musical instruments; they had a makeshift representation of instruments made from plastic and sticks. They didn't worship in a temple, nor did they sit on comfortable, cushioned seats; they sat outdoors on tarpaulins, barefoot, singing praises to God, yet they never murmured or complained.
The children of Uganda teach us a
vital lesson about being content with what we have and rejoicing no matter our
situation. We are taught to express our appreciation by thanking God and using
what He has blessed us with, small or great, to honor and glorify Him. In
everything, let us rejoice always and be grateful, giving thanks always to our
provider, Jesus Christ.
Let us pray:
My gracious Father and God, at times we are so driven by
worldly pleasures, and earthly desires that it chokes out our passion and love
for you. Please forgive us for showing little regard for the things you have
blessed us with. I pray, O God, we will learn to appreciate the blessings you
have bestowed upon us, small or great, and be content and happy, praising and
giving thanks always in all situations. O God, we acknowledge with repentant
hearts that we have prioritized the things of this world over your kingdom. We
have allowed the pursuit of worldly gain to choke out our passion for you.
Forgive us for the times our schedules have become so full that we have little
room for prayer and worship. Today, we turn away from our own ways and
surrender everything to your perfect will. Father, please lead us back to you
and bring us back to the place where all we needed was you, Lord. Almighty God,
work your purpose out within us and let your name be glorified through Jesus
Christ our Savior. Amen.
