Seek Advice From The Right Source

Good morning

Scripture reading: 2 Kings 1

Worship song: Same Power

Meditation:

Acting on divine command delivered by an angel, Prophet Elijah stopped the messenger sent by King Ahaziah to inform him of the king's fate for defying the God of Israel. King Ahaziah’s decision to consult the god Baal-zebub concerning his health, rather than seeking divine assistance from the God of Israel resulted in a divine judgment that determined his destiny. The king failed to seek healing from the only God who is capable of restoring his health. He demonstrated a lack of faith and disregard for God's sovereignty and Omnipotent power choosing instead to trust the advice of baal gods.

We are cautioned in Leviticus 19 to avoid those who possess familiar spirits and refrain from seeking after wizards because they will defile us spiritually. Additionally,  Deuteronomy 18 forbids consulting familiar spirits and wizards, considering these acts an abomination to the Lord God. Turning to baal gods shows a lack of faith in the one true God. This practice of trusting familiar spirits rather than God's guidance strips away His protective shield, leaving individuals vulnerable to spiritual harm.

King Ahaziah abandoned faith in God’s power, instead turning to idolatry, and because of his choice his health was not restored; he succumbed to his injuries. Let us place our trust in God and He will act on our behalf.

Let us pray:

Sovereign Lord, I acknowledge You as the true God, who exercises absolute authority and power over human affairs. Almighty God, although at times we act as though we are in control, we recognize that your power far exceeds our limitations. We entrust our ideas, thoughts, and decisions to you, relying on your divine counsel, and trusting every piece of advice and the ultimate plan you have for us. We seek your forgiveness, O God, for the times when we have trusted and accepted guidance from familiar but misguided authorities. We pray, O God, that you will forgive us for our ignorance in trading faith in your sovereignty for reliance on false idols. Help us to understand Your ways, O God, and teach us Your path. Father, in your wrath show us mercy for we know not what we have done. Transform our mindset, O God, and lead us through Your Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a day of peace. ✌💕🙏
