Mission Complete

Good morning

Scripture reading: Jonah chps. 1-4

Worship song: The mission

Meditation:

God commanded Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh to preach to the Assyrians, but Jonah instead boarded a ship that was heading for Tarshish. He took it upon Himself to abort the mission that God sent him to accomplish by trying to run from the Lord's command. Jonah was reluctant to go because of the great wickedness of the Assyrians, and he felt within himself that they deserved judgment and destruction. Perhaps he thought that he could hide or escape the plan of God, or maybe he thought disobeying God's directive was no big deal. God intercepted Jonah and sent him to proclaim the word of God to the Ninevites/Assyrians. Upon hearing the warning of impending destruction, the king immediately proclaimed a solemn fast. The people of the city humbled themselves before God, dressed in sackcloth and ashes, and genuinely repented of their wickedness.

Like the people of Nineveh, we need to heed God's warnings by surrendering all to Jesus, repenting and turning away from our wickedness, and living by His command. How much longer must Jesus intercede on our behalf while we cling to our filthy garments instead of embracing grace? Let us hastily turn from our wicked ways and repent while grace abounds. The end is closer than we think, so now is the time to prepare.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful that you never destroyed a city without warning. Abba, Father, our sins have polluted the earth, and though you warned us, we continue to meddle in sin, seeking worldly pleasures rather than salvation. We are a generation who seeks to satisfy our selfish desires, seeking after earthly treasures rather than seeking to serve you, O God. Almighty God, I ask that you do not consume us in your wrath, but that you will have mercy on us and forgive us for seeking vanity instead of seeking you, Lord. Father, we humbly bow in your presence and ask that you blot out all our transgressions. Lead us to you, O God, as we obediently turn from our wicked ways and surrender to your will and to your ways. Liberate us from the slavery of sin, remove our sin-stained garments, mighty God, and instill in us the desire to proclaim the gospel for your glory through Jesus Christ. Amen.

 Peace and love. ✌💕

  1. Blessed morning. God is faithful. Pray with me. Search me, O God, and know my heart today. Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray. See if there be some wicked way in me. Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free. Loving God help me to think before I act and learn before I judge. Lord thinking before acting is wisdom; but acting before thinking is regret. Help me not to spend time looking for the faults in others , but spend the time to correct my own. I ask that you will create in me a clean heart, O God ; and renew a right spirit within me. This I ask in Jesus' name, Amen. Stay Blessed 🙌
