No Other Gods
Good morning
Scripture reading: 2 Chronicles 33:1-16
Worship Song: No Foreign Gods
Meditation:
One of the things that has characterized humans for centuries is their tendency to worship creatures and false gods rather than their creator. Although many of us are serving God, we have not parted from our idols. We fail to realize that anything that competes with our love for God has become our idol. Anything that we place above God and cherish more than God has become our idol. Serving two masters is a conflict of interest. We cannot serve two masters effectively at the same time.
We will be devoted to one more than
the other, or we will love one and despise the other. No deity, real or
imagined, is to rival the one true God. Through the lust of our hearts, we
worship and serve the creature more than the creator. Today, we have the
opportunity to reflect and do a self-examination of where our heart lies. If we
are found guilty of erecting ungodly altars, or if we realize that our worldly
possessions have become our idols, like Manasseh, now is the time to surrender
and humble ourselves before God. Declare, like Joshua, that you and your
household will serve the Lord God.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, this day, we glorify you as our Lord and Savior, the only wise God who deserves all glory, honor, and praise. We pull down every ungodly altar that we have erected, and we place you, O God, high above all else, because you are worthy to be praised. We humble ourselves before you, and we ask that you reveal unto us our hidden idols. Almighty God, whatever we have placed before you, whatever is getting the glory above you, we surrender it now in the name of Jesus. Father, whatever idol that is competing against you, we release it now into the abyss. We declare that we are free from any entanglement with idol worship and Baal gods. We take our rightful place at your throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy. Father, we move away from that which held us captive, and we seek refuge at the foot of the cross in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. Amen.
Have a joyful day. 🙏💕
We are the closest thing to God interms of His image, not physical but spiritual.
ReplyDeleteTo create a image that is neither physical nor spiritual but material misses to mark and is not even close, yet mankind bow to that, it makes them a capital FOOL.
There is nothing else one can say to those who choose to do that than to let them face the consequences of their own actions like Isreal.
Thou shall have no other gods before me. It is foremost in the 10 commandsment. Shalom.
