Warning Before Destruction
Good morning
Scripture reading: 1 Samuel 2
Worship song: Heal My Heart
Meditation:
Eli was appointed by God as the priest to oversee the church and its affairs. However, he had notable weaknesses; he failed to discipline his sons and did not manage his household effectively; he could not instill in them the fear of the Lord. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 3:4-5 that those chosen to lead God’s people must manage their households well, keeping their children in submission and respect. Leaders who neglect and fail to govern their own households cannot effectively oversee the church of God. Eli's son took advantage of the women in the church, using and seducing them. The Lord's warning to Eli was that his son's wickedness and Eli's failure to restrain them would result in the end of his priestly lineage.
Do not be alarmed by the issues present in the house of God, for what was happening in ancient times is still prevalent today. Sadly, this trend of committing sinful act is still prevalent among believers. Therefore, we must be mindful of our actions, confess our faults, and return to God to avoid His wrath. Let us never provoke the Lord our God, for He is a consuming fire. The word of God empowers us, so if we realize we are straying from His will, let us urgently repent and abandon our ungodly ways. We must actively seek divine intervention and work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
Let us pray:
Sovereign God, ruler of heaven and earth, I bow before you, seeking your forgiveness, for we have trespassed against you. Merciful Father, in ignorance, we have embraced the pleasures of sin, but we come with humble and contrite hearts, acknowledging our trespasses and seeking your purification. Purge us with hyssop, O God, and circumcise our hearts.
Father, after you have purged us, I pray we will no longer have the desire for the ungodliness we once embraced. May the sins we practice become distasteful to us. Sovereign God, transform our minds and hearts. Deliver us from our self-righteousness and selfish desires, lest we be consumed by pride and fall prey to the condemnation of the devil. Almighty God, break the chains of Satan's stronghold and dominion over us. Open our eyes to the sin that separates us from you, O God. As we declare ourselves children of God, may our lives reflect the truth of Jesus Christ, our King. Keep us firmly anchored in you, through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Have a wonderful day. ✌💕🙏
