Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide
Good morning
Scripture reading: Psalms 139
Worship song: Where Can I Go
Meditation:
Overwhelmed with emotion, the Psalmist reflects on God's incredible, infinite power and omnipresence, marveling that God is intimately acquainted with every detail of his life, even his most hidden thoughts and feelings. God's wisdom and knowledge are unattainable; none has the power to obtain them. While we can earn academic titles, and be blessed with the spirit of discernment, we can never earn the boundless wisdom and knowledge that belong only to God. The Psalmist acknowledged that God's power is beyond human understanding. He realizes he cannot hide from God because God is always watching.
As Psalm 139 states, there is nowhere to flee from God's presence.
Though we might hide our wrongdoings and indulgences from human view, all our
actions, whether righteous or wicked, are laid exposed before God to whom we
must give account. We cannot hide our sins and transgressions from the Lord,
nor can we escape His wrath. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of
grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Let us pray:
Righteous, eternal, Omnipresent, and Omnipotent God, we
acknowledge your sovereignty, infinite wisdom, knowledge, and power. Boldly we
come to your throne of grace, Almighty God, that we may obtain grace, mercy,
and favor. We understand, O God, that we cannot hide from your presence, for
your unseen eyes are always watching us, beholding the good and the evil.
Almighty God, like the Psalmist, we are calling on you, our great high priest,
to search our hearts this morning. Examine our innermost thoughts and flush out
every hidden sin; blot out our transgressions, cleanse us from all
unrighteousness, and create within us a clean heart, O God. Grant us, Almighty
God, wisdom to dissect your word, for we acknowledge it is the lamp for our
feet and the light for our path. Lead us away from our sinful nature, from
carnal mindedness, and align our desires with your will through Jesus Christ,
our Savior. Amen.
Wishing you a peaceful day. ✌💕🙏
