Consequences Follow Sin

Good morning

Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 12

Worship sing: Sinners' Prayer

Meditation:

The Lord sent Nathan to deliver a prophetic declaration of divine judgment to David in the aftermath of his adultery with Bathsheba and the arranged murder of her husband. While David was forgiven for his sinful deed, he was not exempt from the earthly consequences of his actions. Nathan emphasizes that God bestowed everything upon David, and by his actions, he showed disregard for God's gifts and commands.

Because David misused his power and responded to goodness with sinful actions, the Lord decreed that evil would arise from within his own family, bringing affliction to his household. The prophet Nathan declared that the sword would never depart from David's house, resulting in ongoing violence, sexual immorality, and brutal death among his children. We are reminded in Galatians 6:7-9 that pursuing selfish, worldly desires leads to destruction, whereas investing in spiritual life brings eternal salvation. James advises us to forsake immoral conduct and wholeheartedly accept the engrafted word of God with meekness, which can save our souls.

Let us pray:

Sovereign God, with a penitent heart we humble ourselves before you, seeking forgiveness for our transgressions, both known and unknown. We humbly seek forgiveness, Almighty God, on behalf of our ancestors who transgress against you. We plead with you, O God, to revoke every connection to past ancestral sins, and let it not destroy or prevail over our family. Heavenly Father, while we acknowledge the severe consequences of wickedness, we earnestly beseech You that Your mercy may prevail over divine judgment for all who sincerely repent and turn to You. Spare us, O God, from Your consuming wrath, as we tremble at the price of our wilful disobedience. Father, grant us power over our fleshy desires and guide us by the Holy Spirit to relinquish immoral conduct and embrace your holy word wholeheartedly. Turn our vile hearts away from iniquity and towards a life of holiness in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you a day filled with joy. 👏💕🙏
