The Greatest Commandment

Good morning

 Scripture reading: St. Matthew 22:36-40

Worship song: Give Me A Heart Like Thine

Meditation:

While Jesus was teaching, a mischievous Pharisee lawyer tempted him, asking which commandment was greatest. Jesus responded by telling him the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and second, to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus emphasizes that these two commandments take priority, serving as the foundational pillars upon which the entire law and the prophets depend. We must honor God with our highest devotion and treat our neighbors with love.

If we say we love God but hate our fellow human, we are dishonest, and God’s love has not been perfected in us. We cannot claim to truly love God if we cannot see while hating those we see daily. Jesus told us to love each other. When we do, God lives inside us and makes His love complete through us. To dwell in love is to dwell in the Divine. Because love is light, it cannot be concealed; it naturally pours outward to illuminate everything around it. Love is kind, endures all things, bearer of all things, not easily provoked, vaunteth not itself, envies not, thinks no evil, rejoice not in iniquity nor easily provoked.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we offer You our deepest gratitude, honoring Your name with reverent praise and adoration. We appreciate Your example of love and Your guidance on how to love others. We worship You, Almighty God above all, and pledge to love our neighbors as You have commanded. Father, while individuals look on our countenance, You look at our heart, which is concealed from humans. Who can know the hidden things of the heart, but You, our only wise God? Lord, You are the potter, and we are the clay; our hearts are before You, Lord. Do Your own diagnosis, perform a heart transplant, remove our stony hearts, and give us loving, kind, forgiving, merciful, and compassionate hearts. Father, give us a heart like Yours, a heart that knows no guile. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Wishing you abundant blessings. 💕🙏🙏
