Thing On These Things
Good morning
Scripture reading: Philippians 4: 4-8
Worship song: Refiner's Fire
Meditation:
My thoughts were interrupted suddenly by these words: 'Whatsoever things are pure and lovely, think about these things.' The greatest battle a child of God might ever fight is within the mind. Our real enemy is not flesh and blood but the unseen spiritual forces of darkness that invade our minds. Our mind is a constant battleground used by the enemy to constantly attack our thoughts. Whenever we become preoccupied, that's when the enemy creeps in unaware and messes with our minds. When our mind drifts into a subconscious state, we lose control of our thoughts, and then our mind spirals down a dangerous path. Unpleasant thoughts manifested in our minds will eventually captivate our hearts and defile our bodies. Whatever comes from our heart is what defiles us.
However, we can rid ourselves of these unholy
thoughts that fester in our minds by changing our way of thinking, putting up a
guard against the things on which we feast our minds. Prayer, fasting, the word
of God, and depending on God's strength are our weapons against spiritual
attacks. By doing so, we can stand against the schemes of the devil. It is of
utmost importance and in our best interest that we use these strategies to help
govern our thoughts and bring them under subjection. Apostle Paul, in his
writing, encourages us to think about things that are honest, just, pure,
lovely, and of a good standard so that the peace of God can dwell in our hearts
and minds richly.
Sovereign God, King of all kings and Lord of all lords, my heart, my mind, and my soul belong to you, O God, so I beseech thee, Father, to take authority over us and help us to focus on things that are true, pure, lovely, and holy. Father, create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us, mighty God. As we wrestle with the thoughts that invade our minds and as we recognize our weaknesses, empower us by your strength, Lord, to overcome our weaknesses. Father, we rely on you to empower us to overcome the stronghold of our flesh and the attacks of Satan. We ask, O God, that you tame our deceptive, sinful heart and bring it under subjection. Almighty God, bind and place every spirit that is not of you under control. Abba Father, willingly we surrender all to you in exchange for your peace that passed all understanding. Change our attitude and mindset, Abba Father, and glorify thyself in our weakness. Heavenly Father, cast down the imagination of our hearts and every spirit that exalts itself against you, O God. Father, as we wrestle against spiritual attack, manifest yourself amid our frailty, restore unto us your peace, and cause your face to shine upon us and be gracious unto us in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
It does not matter how much and hard we pray about anything, the constant and relentless attack from the enemy continues. His aim is to wear one down like a spider weave his web around his prey. Once one stay outside of the web range it will be had for him to be effective. A prey of substance he will fight hard for. There is no day that a battle won't be raging, one kind or another. Stay vigilant because we have to live a balance life.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you richly as we carry on for Him.
Lord, help me keep my mind focus on thee, on things that are honest, pure, holy and pleasant. Let not ungodly thoughts or desires take up residence in my mind. Guard my mind against Satan demise. Amen.
