Inward Adorning
Good morning
Scripture: St. Luke 11:37-42
Worship song: Refiner's Fire
Meditation:
In today's scripture, Jesus boldly addresses a critical issue concerning the practices of the Pharisees. While the Pharisees were often seen and regarded as role models of righteousness, their actions and practices were not in alignment with God's true will. Jesus had some concerns regarding their traditional culture, principles, and practices; therefore, he welcomed the opportunity to dine with one of the Pharisees so he could address these matters. The Pharisees were not pleased that Jesus did not perform the ritual of washing hands before a meal. Jesus, however, informed the Pharisees that what is of the utmost importance is not just the cleansing of the outer appearance, but that inward cleansing is required as well. They were preoccupied with outer appearance and adherence to ceremonial standards, failing to realize that it was the heart that needed purification.
Like the
Pharisees, most of us tend to prioritize keeping our surroundings sparkling
clean and presentable but often neglect the condition of our hearts. We must
all confront the reality that our hearts and minds require spiritual renewal.
We need to surrender them daily to Jesus. What is it that we harbor in our
hearts that God is not pleased with? God knows the very depth of our hearts,
and only he can cleanse and make us pure and holy.
Let us pray.
Eternal Father, clothed in splendor and majesty, be thou
glorified, O God, for you are worthy to be praised. Father, I am grateful for
the words that address the cleansing and purifying of our inner man. Almighty
God, I pray we will seek to adorn our hearts with inward apparel of meekness,
love, peace, kindness, humility, compassion, and patience. I pray, O God, that
we will seek to know you more and be adorned with holiness and righteousness.
Father, divert our focus from culture, traditions, and religious practices and
focus on what you require of us and on what you have taught us. Father, we
surrender our hearts to you, circumcise our hearts, remove our stony hearts,
and give us hearts of mercy and compassion in Jesus' name. Amen.
Keep safe. 💕🙏
Amen
ReplyDeleteBlessed morning. God is faithful.. If I'm too high, Lord, bring me down. If there is something in my life, I want you to move it out of my way. If I'm too high, Lord, bring me down. Loving God , May I let go and let you have your way. Sometimes, it is hard to be humble but help me to look to you, Jesus, who is my perfect example of humility and acknowledged that my strength will come because of my dependence on You. Lord, may you refine me and help me to be humble and stay humble. In Jesus' name. Amen . Stay Blessed 🙌
