Words Can Either Bless or Curse
Good morning
Scripture reading: James 3: 1-12
Worship song: Ancient Words
Meditation:
James, a devoted servant of God, powerfully illustrated the influence of the tongue, emphasizing its unpredictable behavioral nature. Our speech is like a lethal weapon with the potential to be a potent tool for either uplifting and inspiring others or tearing them down. Words are incredibly powerful; they can damage character, ignite anger, condemn, curse, and destroy the spirit and self-esteem of others. As well, the tongue can also bless, motivate, comfort, praise, and encourage.
As children of God, our words must reflect the teachings of God and be used to strengthen, motivate, and encourage those we encounter. Therefore, no harmful words should proceed from our lips, but only those that are wholesome and edifying, that they may minister grace unto the hearers. Our speech should always be uttered with loving kindness, seasoned with salt, so that we may know how we ought to answer our fellow men.
Being true followers of Jesus Christ, we should strive to emulate Him and live
by His teachings and standards. While Jesus was on earth, many marveled and
wondered at the gracious words that proceeded out of his mouth. We should at
all times use kind words to counteract bitter utterances.
Let's pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I am grateful for your word, which
clarifies how we should adorn our tongues as children of God. Father, as I
glean from your inspired wisdom, let my life, attitude, and words reflect your
teachings, principles, and will. Jehovah God, I pray that every word that
proceeds from my mouth will edify, uplift, encourage, motivate, strengthen, and
comfort everyone I meet. Govern my tongue so that I may utter words of praise,
blessings, kindness, and love. Place my tongue under subjection, under your
authority, O God, for you alone have that power. Almighty God, guide my heart
to act in righteousness; align my thoughts to operate according to your will.
Almighty God, may the words that proceed from my mouth minister grace to the
hearers, and blessings and not curse in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Have a God-blessed day. Shalom. 💞🙏
Let the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight oh Lord my redeemer and strength. Comly words should be the utterance of our heart but that is not the case many times from people. Not many people can govern the tongue because of it's unrulyness. The Holy Spirit my be present at all times less unholy things will proceed out of the mouth because of the condition of the heart. It is better for one to keep silent than to speak unacceptable and foul words that negatively affect others. Sing them over again to me beautiful words, wonderful words. When the heart is engaged in sweetness, the tongue will too. Keep writing, your gift is impacting. Shalom. 🙏❤️🙏❤️👍
