Lost Its Identity
Good morning
Scripture reading: Romans 6:1-6
Worship song: Basics of Life
Meditation:
There is a growing public perception that many churches today are experiencing an identity crisis. In our attempt to accommodate those with different distinctive characters, we have dangerously compromised our moral standards. We cannot allow ourselves to lose our identity. We must remain vigilant and steadfast. The church risks losing its identity when it disconnects from its core biblical principles. A church that strays from its identity in Christ may still act like, look like, and sound like believers, but its heart remains far from God.
When the church starts to prioritize worldly desires, seeks material gain, and relies on its own strength, it becomes spiritually disconnected from God. We must remember that friendship with the world is enmity with God. Any church that seeks to be a friend of the world ultimately becomes an enemy of God. When the church fails to recognize and fulfill its role in society by shifting its priorities from the gospel, the spiritual purpose diminishes.
The purpose of the church is to demonstrate the
word of God by living according to its teachings. We are called not to conform
to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, proving what
is good, perfect, and acceptable will of God. Let us not be slothful in
business, but rather be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord gladly.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we are extremely grateful for your word and
the opportunity to closely examine what we prioritize. We acknowledge that, as
a church, our priorities have shifted away from our primary mission of
evangelism and discipleship towards self-serving interests. Lord, we stand
before you guilty and aware of our downfalls. We have sought validation and
fulfillment outside our relationship with you. Deliver us in your
righteousness, O God, and bring us back to our true purpose. Almighty God, we
affirm that the church is built on Jesus Christ, the firm foundation and the
gates of hell cannot prevail against it. We declare victory, Lord, and commit
ourselves to prioritizing the gospel through your divine power in the name of
Jesus Christ. Amen.
Have an awesome day. 💕🙏
Let God be glorified. It is our aim to truly represent the Lord in our daily lives because He calls us to be his representative or ambassadors here and it is required of ambassadors to truly represent their country of origin and so it is of Christ and christenedom. It is a daily examination that must be conducted by individuals. Shalom.
