The Stumbling Blocks

Good morning

Scripture reading: Ezekiel 14:1-8

Worship song: At Your Feet

Meditation:

The Lord rescued the Israelites from Egypt and took them away from their lifestyle of bondage in slavery and their customary worship of idols. The Israelites encountered the love of God and were granted freedom through his divine power. Nonetheless, they regularly transgressed against the Lord and returned to idolatry, and for that, many of them did not reach the promised land. Like the Israelites, many of us, after encountering freedom, have returned to our former lifestyle, allowing our self-will and desires to cause us to be entangled again in the yoke of sin and transgressions.

Those who believe in Christ experience a spiritual rebirth, a transformation from their old lifestyle governed by sin to a new spiritual identity in Christ. Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old, for Christ can do a new thing in you. Escape the pollutions of the world through Jesus Christ, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of sin. When you learn the way of righteousness, do not turn from the holy commandments delivered unto you, for if you again become entangled with sin, the latter end is worse with you than the beginning. Jesus told the impotent man to go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon him. When you encounter Jesus Christ, do not return to your sinful past, for those who do are described as a dog that returns to his vomit and a sow that was washed clean, to her wallowing in the mire (mud).

Let us pray:

Eternal Father, I give thanks, O God, for your words which are a lamp unto our feet and a light onto our path. Have mercy on us, O God, as we acknowledge, repent, and confess our sins. Please help us, Heavenly Father, to abstain from the passions of the flesh which war against the fruits of the spirit. Lord, bless us with divine wisdom to detect the cunning works of the enemy. Build a hedge of protection and a divine shield around us. Keep our eyes fixed on you and help us to remain steadfast and faithful to you during tribulations so that the enemy will not triumph over us. Lead us towards the way of holiness and keep our thoughts, mind, and heart pure and holy, Mighty God through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wishing you joy and peace. ✌💕🙏
