The Lord Shall Be My God
Good morning
Scripture reading: Genesis 28:10-22
Worship Song: The Lord My God
Meditation:
Following a divine promise revealed through a dream at Bethel while fleeing from Esau, Jacob made a conditional vow to God. He pledged that if the Lord would be with him, provide protection in unfamiliar territory, sustain him with necessities, and enable him to return safely to his father, he would fully embrace the Lord as his God and consecrate the stones he had anointed as a place of worship. Additionally, he committed to offering a tenth of all his blessings back to the Lord as an act of thanksgiving. The covenant established by the Lord and Jacob's declaration marked the turning point in his life.
Having returned from Haran with substantial prosperity, Jacob honored his
vow by building an altar at Bethel. He commanded his household to renounce idol
worship, discard all foreign gods, purify themselves, and dedicate their
worship to the God who responded to him during his time of distress. The
essential spiritual lesson is acknowledging God's unwavering faithfulness. God
never broke His promises; He is faithful to His word and what He promises, He
fulfills. Let us follow Jacob's example by honoring our commitment and
expressing our gratitude wholeheartedly for the many promises He has fulfilled.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, the Alpha and Omega, we worship you, O
Lord, you are worthy of all praise. King of all kings and Lord of all lords, we
glorify you for your unwavering faithfulness and unbroken promises. We thank
you sincerely, Almighty God, for your sustaining grace, daily provision, divine
protection, unconditional love, unmerited mercies, and abundant blessings. We
are grateful to you, Lord, for the gift of salvation and Your mercies which are
renewed every morning. We thank you, Lord, for healing all our diseases,
delivering us from our adversaries, clothing us with sound judgment, granting
us spiritual, emotional, and financial breakthroughs, and fostering spiritual
maturity. Heavenly Father, we commit to returning a portion of your abundant
blessings as a token of our heartfelt gratitude, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
May you have a joyful day. 👏🙌🙏
