An Abundance of Rain

Scripture: 1 Kings 18:41-46

Meditation:

    Elijah was a man subject to the same passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the earth for the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain. Elijah had prayed the drought into existence. Now, it was time for the drought to end. He began to petition the God of the universe for rain. Not a little rain, but enough rain to quench the thirst of the land. After Elijah's seventh request, rain came in abundance. His earnest and sincere prayer for rain was heard, and God answered by sending rain upon the land. Elijah prayed until he received an answer. 

    Today, we are reminded to pray fervently. Whatever drought or dry season you may be facing, whether spiritual or physical, let your request be made known to God, who still hears and answers prayer. Remember the promise: ask, and it shall be given; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened. Everyone who asks receives; everyone who seeks finds;  shall find; and those who knock, the door shall be opened unto them. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Let us pray:

    Eternal Father, ruler of heaven and earth, Your name is excellent in all the earth. At the mention of Your name, principalities and powers are subdued. Abba, Father, we trust in You and confess that You are the only wise God. We repent of our sins and turn away from self-righteousness and selfishness. You are our faithful God; our soul thirsts for You and our flesh longs for You, O God, in this dry and thirsty land. This morning, Father God, we boldly ask for the outpouring of the latter rain upon all Your people. Whatever drought we are experiencing in this season, spiritual or physical, we confidently ask You to release rain upon us, O God, Holy Ghost fire to quench our thirsty souls. Send forth rain, O God, to saturate our parched spirits. In the desert and wilderness, we cry unto You, O God, for mercy. Wounded and afflicted, we seek You boldly, trusting in Your power to heal us spiritually and physically. We look to You, O Lord, to fulfill Your promise in us. Open the floodgates of heaven and pour spiritual rain upon us, O God. Reign over our lives, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

A Deep And Holy Fear

Good morning Scripture reading: Jonah 1:7-17 Worship song: Whom Shall I Fear   Meditation:      After the mariners' prayer to their respective gods failed, they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah. They gently confronted him and discovered he was running from the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land. The sailors were overwhelmed with fear, yet upon the request of Jonah, they reluctantly threw him overboard into the raging sea. Immediately, the boisterous tempest ceased. Witnessing God's sovereignty over nature, the sailors moved from frantic panic to profound reverence, fearing the Lord exceedingly, offering sacrifices, and making vows to Him.       The sailors' reverence for God is a profound reminder that regardless of whom one serves or what one believes, every individual must ultimately render reverence to the sovereignty of God (Philippians 2:10-11). Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 9:9-13 Worship song: Softly and Tenderly   Meditation:      Matthew, a collector of internal revenue, was diligently collecting taxes as is customary; however, when Jesus called, he immediately left everything behind and followed him. The Pharisees perceived tax collectors as adversaries to be avoided. Jesus regarded them as souls in need of spiritual healing. While the Pharisees imposed strict rules on tax collectors, Jesus extended genuine forgiveness and offered a fresh beginning. Good morning   Scripture reading: Matthew 18:19-20 Worship song: Go   Meditation:      The mandate for mission is an authoritative command, a divine commission that is non-negotiable for believers to spread the gospel and make disciples. Those who are sent by God are commissioned to go forth and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things as commanded by God. Jesus told his followers to travel everywhere and share the good news with everyone, adding that faith and baptism bring salvation, while rejecting the message leads to condemnation (St. Mark 16:15-16).       We are commissioned to declare the glory of the Lord among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations, for great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised.
