New Wine, Old Bottle
Good morning
Scripture reading: St. Luke 5: 37-38
Worship song: New Wine
Meditation:
Jesus, while teaching the multitude, spoke a parable unto them about pouring wine into a bottle. Jesus explained what would happen if new wine was poured into an old bottle. Reflecting on the parable about the wine and the bottle leads me to ponder the Holy Spirit and the old man. For the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, the old man must be crucified. If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things become new.
The Holy Spirit cannot dwell in dirty vessels, so we must put off, concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of our mind; and put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. For the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, we cannot be conformed to this world. We must reject worldly values and let God completely reshape how we think. The renewing of our minds must transform us.
The Holy Spirit cannot dwell in the old man
because the old man is devoted to the work of the flesh, the things that are
carnal and evil. The Holy Spirit dwells in a pure heart that seeks after
holiness and righteousness.
Let us pray:
Most Gracious God, I give You thanks, O Lord, for the
Holy Spirit, the Comforter that guides us into all truth. Almighty God, we
praise and glorify You for Your grace that saves us from destruction and Your
Holy Spirit that dwells within our hearts, guiding and directing us. Father,
create in us clean hearts and renew the right spirit within us. who seek to
follow You. Order our steps, renew our thoughts, and empower us through Your
Holy Spirit and divine guidance. Grant us wisdom, understanding, and insight to
obediently follow Your will in every decision. Almighty God, thank You for Your
Holy Spirit, Your truth, and the godly counsel that helps us face life's
challenges with confidence. We give You thanks, Almighty God, for Your
unconditional love, compassion, kindness, and tender mercies which are new
every morning. Great is Your faithfulness, O God. In the mighty name of Jesus
Christ, we pray. Amen.
Wishing you a fantastic day. Shalom. 🙏🙏🙏
There are many lessons to learn from life. However when we learn them we must seek to apply them because that is where effectiveness will occur. The evidence of anything we say is best demonstrated. New wine is appetizing but we must be clean for it to be effective. Great words. 🙏🙏🙏
