Routine Worship
Good morning
Scripture reading: St Luke 4:16
Worship song: The Heart of Worship
Meditation:
It is customary for believers in Christ to gather in synagogues and places of worship at least once weekly to fellowship, praise, and honor God, our Creator. These religious practices, if performed without genuine desire and heart engagement, can become mere routines, detached from a life pleasing to God and a desire to glorify and submit to Him. Matthew 15:8 is a reminder that outward expression of faith must align with a heart that is connected with God. When our lives are governed by customary rituals, we become complacent, and the purpose of our worship loses its true value because we are committed to following a routine rather than seeking to develop a closer relationship with God.
Our prayers are mere words uttered from our lips with no
inclination from the Holy Spirit. We read the word of God but lack the wisdom
to comprehend and grasp its contents. We worship in the spur of the moment, but
it is without joy and gladness. We hear the message of salvation, but the cares
of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word preventing it from
germinating in our hearts and minds. As we go to the synagogue to worship, let
us forget about our customary routine and worship God wholeheartedly. Draw nigh
to him and build a bond that cannot be broken. Let us start by surrendering our
ways, worship, and hearts to God in earnest prayer.
Let us pray:
Everlasting Father, clothed in splendor and majesty, I
worship you, O God because you are worthy to be praised. Heavenly Father, I
have acknowledged that we have been following a routine trend and have become
complacent in our walk with you. Father, let your Holy Spirit burn away all
desire for things that do not glorify you, empty me, and fill me with more of
you, Lord. Almighty God, you deserve sincere worship and so Father, strip away the routine worship, and allow
your Holy Spirit to lead us into your presence. Lord, bring us back to the
heart of worship where everything we do glorifies, honors, and pleases you.
Father, quell the spirit of complacency, selfishness, compromise, lukewarmness,
and any spirit that is warring against the spirit of God. Almighty God, we
willingly release the things we gripped selfishly tight to experience the
transformative power of your grace and fulfill our God given purpose in the name Jesus Christ. Amen.
It our duty to praise Him under all circumstances but to do so we need the help of the Holy Spirit. We dear not carry on without Him.
ReplyDeleteLord, teach we to worship you from a heart that is sincere so that my worship is not in vain.
