Stuck In Reverse
Good morning
Scripture reading: Isaiah 43:18-19
Worship song: No Looking Back
Meditation:
A vehicle can become stuck in reverse due to a malfunctioning shift cable, internal wear, or a faulty transmission cable that hinders forward movement. Similarly, an individual may become trapped in dwelling on past seasons rather than progressing forward, which represents a personal setback characterized by an obsession with "the good old days" or regret over previous mistakes. Whether your past was a period marked by deep sorrow and remorse or one of joy and fulfillment, looking in the rearview mirror should be momentary, propelling us into the future.
We cannot progress to the next chapter while our mind is still in park. God is always active, doing something new, and our ability to perceive work is hindered if our eyes are focused on past occurrences. Let us avoid dwelling on old tales or considering former things; instead, focus on the windshield, looking ahead to a brighter future (Isaiah 43:18-19).
By intentionally forgetting what lies behind us and reaching
towards what lies ahead, we press toward the goal for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we approach You with confidence, confessing
that we often look back at our Egypt experience with longing. We ask for Your
forgiveness for walking by sight rather than by faith. Lord, we admit that we
have spent too much time looking backward, attempting to fix what cannot be
changed. We seek Your divine assistance, Lord, to forget the things behind and
press toward the higher calling You have prepared for us. Help us, Lord, to
focus our attention on You. Enable us to let go of past hurts, disappointment,
and regrets, so that we do not miss what You have planned for us. We surrender
our past to You and look forward in faith to embrace the future You have stored
for us. Guide our steps, open the appropriate doors, and close the ones that
are not meant for us. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
Wishing you a peaceful day. ✌🙌🙏
