The Master Key

Image
Happy New Year Scripture reading: 2 Timothy 3:14-17 Worship song: Thy Word  Meditation:      A master key is a key that gives you access to more than one door or locks within your organization. The Bible is the master key to our spiritual growth as a believer. It provides and sustains our spiritual life because it is alive. The Bible contains the word of God, which is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Bible contains the word of God vital, to judge the thoughts and intentions of our minds. It reveals to us our sinful nature and, therefore, convicts the hearts of those who read it. Believers rely on the word of God to instruct, empower, enrich, and bring about changes in their spiritual lives.       The Bible is an essential tool necessary to empower us, as it is filled wi...

Through It All

Image
Happy New Year Scripture reading: Psalm 27 Worship song: Through it all   Meditation:      The psalmist, David, was not free from trouble and haters. During his life, he had many enemies. Many rose against him, including King Saul, whom he had helped to defeat the Philistine giants who fought against Israel. David was not afraid of the host that encamped roundabout and against him, for he knew the God whom he served. Through it all, David trusted God and built a relationship with Him. David's only desire was to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life. He trusted God and believed that He would shield him from all his enemies. Through it all, David learned to depend upon God and trust Him with his whole heart. Through it all, David triumphed over his foes. Through it all, David overcame trials and tribulations because he trusted and believed in God.       If we trust God with everything that we are going through, we can overc...

What Matters Most

Image
Happy New Year Scripture Reading: St. Luke19: 37-40 Worship Song: Bow Down and Worship Him   Meditation:      Should you ask a group of people what matters most in life, the responses would vary based on their perspectives. I'm sure the majority of the responses would be family, relatives, their jobs, relationships, good health, wealth, and/or happiness. But what should matter the most in life is worshiping God in the beauty of holiness with gratitude, humility, reverence, and awe. Worship changes everything. When Paul and Silas were bound in chains behind the prison wall, they worshiped, singing praises unto God. Their singing attracted the attention of heaven, and God intervened on their behalf. As a result of their adoration, the atmosphere shifted—the prison doors suddenly opened, and the chains that bound the prisoners were released (Acts 16). Another example of the result of the power of worship is recorded in 2 Chronicles 20. It is amazing what the p...

Not Deeper Than the Surface

Image
Happy New Year Scripture reading: 2 Timothy 3:1-5 Worship Song: Beyond the Surface   Meditation:      The surface is related to the outermost part or uppermost layer of something. If we are not rooted and grounded firmly in Jesus Christ, then we are considered surface Christians whose faith is skin deep. Such Christians only believe in God as long as their prayers and needs are met. One can consider such Christians as having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Those who have a form of godliness are those who make an outward display of religion, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. They present themselves as godly but have no deep spiritual connection. There is no power behind their religion, as evidenced by the fact that their lives are unchanged. They speak of God and live in sin, and they are fine with that arrangement. They will go to church and enjoy the worship session, but down deep they have not changed. They will profess to be Christi...

Do Not Fear, Only Believe

Image
Happy New Year Scripture reading: St. Luke 8: 41-42, 49-56 Worship song: Your Cries Have Woken the Master   Meditation:      Jairus's love for his daughter and the fear of losing her compelled him to go to Jesus for help. Jairus was willing to do anything for the sake of his only daughter. In the presence of a large crowd, Jairus, the synagogue leader, knelt at Jesus's feet, pleading with Him to return to his house and heal his sick daughter, who was on the verge of dying. While Jairus waited for Jesus to accompany him home, he received the devastating news that no parent wants to hear. His daughter died before help could reach her. Jesus knew the impact tragic news can have on someone, and therefore He consoled Jairus and told him not to fear but only believe, and his daughter will be healed. Jesus responded to Jairus's desperate cry at the right time. Life was restored to his daughter, and souls were saved.       Whatever God does is d...

The Way That Seems Right

Good Morning Scripture reading: Proverbs 16:17 Worship song: Highway to Heaven   Meditation:      Many are not aware of the significance of the Bible, and some of those who do spend little or no time seeking guidance and direction from it. The Bible is our compass, and the Holy Spirit is our guide to lead us to the heavenly highway. This highway is called the way of holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, only the redeemed (Isaiah 35:8). The psalmist realized its value and penned these words: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I hid in my heart your word that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:11, 105). He said, show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. Lead me down the path that leads to everlasting life (Psalm 25).       The highway to salvation is long; you will encounter many obstacles, trials, and tribulations along the w...

Living the Good Life

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Thessalonians 2:4 Worship Song: God Who Move the Mountains   Meditation:      Most people spend their lives fulfilling the obligations and expectations of others, trying to please them in every possible way. But if we live our lives for the benefit of others, trying not to offend anyone, we are in for disappointment. One of the hardest tasks any person will ever encounter is trying to please everyone. We should seek to please Almighty God always because one day we will stand before him in judgment to give an account of our deeds. Do not live to fulfill the expectations of others, but live to please your master and creator, Jehovah God. Nothing compares to his everlasting, unconditional love.       When you live for Jehovah God, you are transformed into His likeness. The old things have passed away, and everything becomes new, and you will begin to experience peace and happiness deep within your soul. Whe...

The Accepted Time

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 50:14-21 Worship song: For the good   Meditation:      The all-too-familiar story of Joseph in the book of Genesis (chapters 37-50) recorded a brief history of his fate and how God worked in his favor. Joseph's brothers plan to eliminate him, but God has a greater plan. They meant to dethrone him from the position of leadership that he declared he would one day hold. They meant anything but well; in fact, they meant him evil. What they didn't know was that God would one day turn their evil scheme into something good for their benefit. The exact thing Joseph’s brothers had meant to cause him harm was the exact thing God used to promote him to his destiny. Joseph moved from a state of imprisonment to occupy the office of the governor in Egypt. He was given the authority to manage the affairs of the King of Egypt. As God has ordained it, during the time of famine, Joseph was able to assist his father and siblings with en...
