The Power of The Tongue
Good morning
Scripture reading: James 3:1-8
Worship song: Taming The Tongue
Meditation:
The tongue is a small but powerful part of the body capable of producing both good and evil. Apostle James contended that humans have successfully subdued every kind of creature both large and small, on land and sea except the tongue which remains difficult to control. He characterized the tongue as a small unruly member full of deadly poison acting as a source of evil capable of contaminating the entire body. The same tongue that blesses and inspires others can also condemn and cause widespread destruction and corruption.
Apostle Paul beseeches Christians to utilize their words as
tools for constructive support to strengthen, encourage, and edify others
in their faith. He urges us to avoid harsh words and ensure that no corrupt
communication proceeds out of our mouths, but that which is beneficial for
educating and ministering to the hearers. Mastery over the tongue is
fundamental to guiding our actions and cultivating self-discipline. The words
we speak are directly reflective of the condition of our hearts.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, I entrust my lips, heart, mind, and soul
into your care. Grant me prudence to guard my tongue, O God, and establish a
watchfulness before my mouth to protect the openings of my lips. Almighty God,
shield my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking deceitfully. I seek your
divine guidance, Lord, to direct my words and to govern my actions. Almighty
God, grant me the power to tame my tongue and to use my words as instruments
for constructive support to strengthen, encourage, and build up others in their
faith. Lord, empower my speech to bring hope, encouragement, and spiritual
healing to everyone I meet. In all things may I cultivate an attitude of
expressing gratitude and appreciation through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Wishing you a wonderful day. 💕🙏👄
