The Spirit of Fear
Good morning
Scripture reading: Philippians 4:6-7
Worship song: Fear is a Liar
Meditation:
Every day, we confront fear, and if we let it overwhelm us, it can rob us of our joy and peace. Fear is defined as the emotional response to an imminent or perceived threat of danger, pain, or evil, frequently resulting in feelings of worry and discomfort. This fear, which causes people to doubt God's power and faithfulness, is not from God but is considered a human limitation. God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control. Fear will keep us from fulfilling our responsibilities and prevent us from doing the will of God.
The word of God reminds us in Isaiah
41:10 to fear not and be not dismayed, for God is with us; he will strengthen,
help, and uphold us with his righteous right hand. There is no fear in love,
but perfect love casts out fear. Fearing man is a dangerous trap, but when you
fear the Lord, you are protected. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
wisdom, which leads you to make the right choices in life and submit to God's
will. The Lord commands us to be strong and courageous and not be frightened,
for He is with us wherever we go. The Lord said we should fear not because he
has redeemed us, and we are his. When we pass through the waters, He will be
with us, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow us; when we walk
through the fire, we shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon
us. Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
Let us pray:
Sovereign God, worthy of all praise, honor, and glory,
please reduce the feelings of fear and anxiety that plague us. Help us find our
rest and place our trust in You as we navigate the challenges of this imperfect
world. Lord, empower us with divine strength to find freedom and progress
whenever fear and doubt enter our hearts and minds. We ask you, Almighty God,
to bind the power of fear and let it not have dominion over us because you did
not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Father,
whenever we become fearful, remind us that you are with us; nullify the spirit
of fear that threatens to destroy our peace of mind. We humble ourselves before
you today, because you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in the
time of trouble. We place our trust in you, Lord God, acknowledging you are our
safe haven in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
