Do Not Look Back

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Isaiah 43:18-19 Worship song: Make Room   Meditation:      There is a natural human tendency for us to reminisce on what we have left behind, especially a life of luxury and pleasure. When God was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, he sent his angels to escort Lot and his family to a safe place, away from the city. However, Lot's wife disobeyed the warning and looked back. She was too attached to her lifestyle of glitter and glamour, focusing on the things she was leaving behind, so she suffered the consequences of her actions. Apostle Paul urges us to forget those things that are behind us and focus on the things that are before us.       As we traverse this pilgrim land, press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God. Remain steadfast and focused, looking ahead and not behind. Consider not your old sinful lifestyle, for the Lord God is doing a new thing in your life. God is calling you...

Hidden in The Sand

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Exodus 2:11-15 Worship song: Jesus Forgive Me   Meditation:      It is human instinct to protect their loved ones and defend them from harm and danger in every way possible. On most occasions, people are driven by a spontaneous inclination to act, especially intervening to defend someone from injustice. This was the case with Moses, whose impulsive action led him to act on instinct without considering the consequences of his decision. Moses's attempt to conceal his action reflects the human tendency to cover their wrongdoings and sinful deeds. However, we cannot hide from God because there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, nor hidden that shall not be known (St. Luke 12:2).       David affirms God's omnipresent and omniscient power in Psalm 139. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch over good and evil (Proverbs 15:3). He that hides his sins shall not prosper, but whoever choos...

Whatsoever Thou Sowest

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Galatians 6:1-10 Praise song: Sow mercy   Meditation:      Everything in life starts with a seed. God had designed all the different plants to yield produce after their own kind. Therefore, if a farmer tills the soil and sown peas, he is expecting to reap peas. There are good and bad seeds, so we should be careful what seeds we sow because whatever a man sows, he will one day reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. The type or portion of what we sow determines the type or portion of our harvest, so whatever we sow, we shall reap the reward.       If we sow compassion, love, peace, and kindness, expect favorable rewards. And if we sow hatred, bitterness, envy, and strife, expect to reap sorrow. Our seeds will produce a return regardless of the soil. Therefore, we should think seriously about the see...

How Deep His Your Love

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Matthew 22:37-39 Worship song: I'm Amazed   Meditation:      Love is a very essential human need, as it is the driving force behind compassion, kindness, and empathy. Love, according to the dictionary, is a strong feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection for someone. Jesus Christ demonstrated his love for us by showing kindness, mercy, and compassion to not only some but all creatures. He loves us despite our sinful nature, but he does not endorse our sins. His love for us is greater than our sins. God expects all his disciples to have the same kind of agape love he demonstrated. No wonder Jesus Christ told his disciples to love each other just as he loved us. The love of Jesus Christ does not come with conditions or limitations. It is a love that is generous and endures all things.       As children of God, faith, hope, and love are the three essential Christian virtues that guide our interac...

Dwell in Safety

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Psalm 27 Worship song: Safe   Meditation: The vehicle I was in stopped to allow a mother and her ducklings to cross the road. I was fascinated by how protective the mother was of its young. We waited patiently and watched as the mother safely led its young ducklings to the other side of the road. It seems like she counted them and realized some were missing. She returned to the other side and then crossed again with the two unruly ones walking close behind her. This display of protection demonstrates how much the Lord shields us from the attack of the enemy.       In times of trouble, we are hidden in the secret places of his pavilion, where he will cover us with his feathers safely under his wings. When we dwell in the secret place of God, He will protect us from the host that encamped around us. The Lord will keep us from the snare of the wicked and from the noisome pestilence. However, if we refuse to seek shelter and...

Travelling First Class

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. John 14:1-6 Worship song: One Way Flight   Meditation:      I believe every traveler would like to experience the peace, comfort, and tranquility of a luxurious first-class flight to their dream destination. Several benefits complement a first-class passenger that a regular traveler does not receive, and what's more, not everyone will get the opportunity to travel, much less fly first class. Nevertheless, do not be discouraged and do not ponder about these things because there are two first-class flights available that require no monetary contribution, only a committed heart.       There is one first-class flight destined for Paradise, and not many people are making reservations. This flight is only for the born-again, faith-believing, sanctified, and redeemed who accept and acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. There is also a first-class flight destined for hell, and many passengers have already booked t...

Abstain From Evil

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 Worship song: Make Me Whole   Meditation:      The Bible, which is our compass, strongly warns against indulging in evil. Evil is the opposite of good and, by definition, is something morally wrong, sinful, or wicked committed against human beings and against God. When a person chooses to participate in wickedness, they defy God's command. Evil causes unnecessary grief, pain, and suffering. King Solomon, the author of Proverbs 4, emphasizes the importance of staying away from evil. He warns against entering into the path of the wicked and in the way of evil men. His urgent plea is that we walk in the way of the righteous and avoid the path of the wicked because the way of the wicked is darkness.       David, in Psalm 24, urged us to depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it, listen to the advice of the wise, fear the LORD, and shun evil because those who are evil will b...

The God of Impossibilities

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Exodus 14 Worship song: Believe For It   Meditation:      Pharaoh, upon witnessing the power of God and the calamities that befall him, released the children of Israel from his captivity and commanded them to leave his property. Moses, without hesitation and by God's command, welcomed the long-awaited opportunity to lead them away from Egypt to freedom. However, while they were on their journey, the children of Israel saw Pharaoh and his army pursuing them, and they became afraid. Like the Israelites, when our enemies pursue us and our backs are against the wall, we are paralyzed with fear that causes us to feel defeated. The Almighty God who spoke to the Red Sea and caused dry land to appear to allow the children of Israelites to escape the fury of Pharaoh is the same God we serve. The enemies that pursue you, that you see today, you will see them no more, so trust God and live. Let’s pray:      Sovereign ...
