The Unknown Hour

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. John 10:10 Worship song: Come, Now Is the Time to Worship   Meditation:      Do you know what will happen in the next minute, hour, day, week, etc., and do you know your fate? What will befall you? If you knew at what time the thief came, wouldn't you watch and protect your possessions against theft? If you know tomorrow will be your last day, would you not spend today at your best, trying to do all that you wanted to accomplish and trying to make up for lost time? Do not procrastinate; live each privilege day as if it is your last. No one is promised tomorrow; therefore, be ready for in such an hour when you think not the Son of Man will come. Do not be like those who doubt the Lord will return, saying they heard that when they were young and now they are old and he is still not here. Be ready because you never know when the bridge groom will come and find you without sufficient oil for the journey. More so, you do not k...

Hope of Salvation

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Peter 1:3-13 Worship song: There is Hope in the Lord   Meditation:      There are times when we experience hardship, ongoing failures, disappointments, discouragements, bitter woes, declining health, shattered dreams, tragedies, and broken promises. Most if not all of us have had moments when we feel completely hopeless, just going through the motions, merely existing. But where do you find hope when all around us seems hopeless? Where do you seek hope when you feel as though you have lost it all? Where do you find hope in the face of uncertainty? Who do we run to when we encounter the pressures of life? Who do we turn to when all earthly hopes are fading? We run to the rock that is higher than us and seek refuge in the God of hope. We take our issues to the God of comfort, who can fill us with joy and peace so that we may abound in all hope through the power of the Holy Ghost. We cast our burden upon the Lord who can susta...

Burning Your Bridges

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Philippians 3:7-14 Worship song: If I Got Jesus   Meditation:      Whenever you are moving from one situation to a new one that you think is better than the previous one, people will tell you not to burn your bridges behind you. 'Do not burn your bridges behind you' is an idiom that means to make a decision that is irrevocable and eliminates any possibility of retreating or returning for favor. You would be told not to act in a manner that will cause irreparable harm to your previous relationships or connections, as you may need them later in life. The truth is, there are some relationships and connections that you need to sever, especially the ones not aligned with God's will. You need to burn the bridges that interfere with your relationship with God. Be not deceived, for some have not the knowledge of God, and if you turn away from such, they will corrupt you with their evil communications. It is perfectly feasible to burn...

Tested and Failed

Image
Good morning Scripture Reading: James 1:12-17 Hymn: Yield Not to Temptation   Meditation:      We are reminded in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that there is no temptation we experience, which is not common among humans. There is absolutely nothing we can do to avoid being tempted, and none of us is exempt from being beguiled. Satan is crafty and cunning, so much so that he thought he could beguile the Son of God. The only weapon Satan can use against us is temptation, and if you are caught in a situation that appeals to the flesh, you are capable of falling under temptation pressure, and so can I. It is not easy to resist it, but there is a wonderful promise that says that God is faithful and will not cause us to be tempted above that which we can endure. No doubt there will be times when we fail the test because we rely on our strength, because we become distracted, and because we ignore the warning signals. Whenever you are tempted, be reminded that you are not alone ...

The Devil Will Dine With You

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: St. Luke 22:1-23 Worship song: Breaking Strongholds   Meditation:      The prince of this world is a very subtle evil spirit working around and through us by using many different strategies to distract and entice us to yield to temptation. That is why the world is like a battlefield where children of God, both weak and strong, are constantly warring against principalities and powers, against the works of the flesh and the wiles of the devil. Each time we are tempted brings us face-to-face with a moral choice that causes us to either give in or stand firm. Satan does not give up easily, so if we allow him the liberty to take an inch, he will take the whole yard. Every leeway he gets is an opportunity for him to divert our attention from the path that leads to holiness, and in so doing, he grasps the chance to take up residency in our hearts. If we allow Satan, he will dine with us and feed us with that which is forbidden, that w...

God's Covenant with Human

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: Genesis 9: 8-17 Worship song: Covenant Keeping God   Meditation:      Sin among men was so prevalent and blatant that God decided to wipe out the entire nation. But, although His wrath was kindled because of man's rebellion, and though He regretted making man, he didn't destroy them all because one man makes a difference. Noah and his family escaped the wrath of God because his lifestyle was pleasing to God. Therefore, after the flood, which wiped out the entire nation, God established a covenant with Noah. The covenant God made with Noah affirms His commitment to creation. God's covenant is a demonstration of His love for his creation uttered through His spoken words as a promise never again to destroy all living creatures from the face of the earth by the waters of a flood. God's covenant didn't stop there because He further established a covenant with Abraham to multiply his seed as the sand of the sea. God also made many...

Putting Up Resistance

Image
Good morning Scripture reading: 1 Peter 5:6-11 Worship song: If It Had Not Been   Meditation:      Recently, during my leisure time, I watched a wildlife documentary and was dumbfounded by the vicious way in which these animals attack and bring down their victims. Most of all, I was startled yet captivated by the hunting techniques displayed by the lions and how they captured and slew their prey. No wonder Peter describes the devil as a roaring lion prowling about seeking whom he may devour. At no time should we let down our guard because the devil is always on the lookout, waiting for an opportunity to launch his attack. We are to be sober, vigilant, and watchful with our drones on the lookout and our antennas alert and ready to send off signals of impending danger. We should be armed and ready for defense at all times, lest the devil catch us off-guard. The devil is cunning and crafty; therefore, we cannot resist him if we are not completely submissive to...

Who Do I Run To?

Image
Good morning Scripture: St. John 6:60-68 Worship song: I Go to the Rock   Meditation:      Who do you turn to when friends, loved ones, family, and those you are acquainted with turn their backs on you? Who do you run to when the pressures of life become unbearable? Who do you turn to when you have no one to lean on? Who do you turn to when you are struggling to overcome the hurt, the pain, and broken promises when you are grief-stricken? Who do you run to when the tempest is raging, and the billows are tossing high? You might be stigmatized, condemned, rejected, and cast aside, but rest assured you are not alone. Jesus, who knew no sin, who came to redeem mankind from sin, who spent his time healing and ministering to the sick, the lame, and the spiritually blind, was rejected, abused, and crucified for doing good. Whatever your situation, whatever storm is raging in your life, you can find shelter in the arms of the master of the ocean, sky, and earth. Wh...
